Kochur Loti chochori (Arum lobe)

                                          "Kochur Loti Chochori" is an old traditional recipe of Bengal. Bengali people have this amazing dish at launch with steam rice. I learn this recipe from my grandmother.  Today I am going to share this recipe with you all. Let's see how to cook "Kochur Loti Chochori".

INGREDIENTS
  1. Mustard oil.
  2.  kochur Loti (Arum lobe). (500gms)
  3. Kalojeera / Black onion seed.
  4. 1 large onion.
  5. Poppyseed.
  6. White mustard seed.
  7. Salt.
  8. sugar.
  9. Turmeric powder.
  10. Dry red chili.
  11. 1 tablespoon of green chili paste.
PREPARATION
  1. Cut the Kochur Loti / Arum lobe into 1-inch pieces.  Then finely chop the onion.
  2. Coat the arum lobe with a little salt and turmeric powder.
  3. Take 1 tablespoon of poppyseed and 1 tablespoon of a white mustard seed to make a fine paste.
COOKING METHOD
  1. Take a shallow saucepan to add 3 tablespoons of mustard oil. 
  2. After a few seconds, when the oil is hot enough add a pinch of Kalo jeera/black onion seed.
  3. After that add 1 dry red chili and fry till the spicy smell not coming out.
  4. Then pour the chopped onion and fry till it became golden brown and tender.
  5. Add the Kochur loti and mix them all well.
  6. In this stage, add salt to taste, 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder, 1/2 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of green chili paste.
  7. Add 1/2 cup of water mix them properly and cover it for 5 minutes in medium heat.
  8. After 5 minutes, when the water is dried then add the poppyseed and white mustard seed paste and another 1//2 cup of water.
  9. Again cover the saucepan for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes the water is dissolved and the Kochur loti / Arum lobe is tender. Turn the gas off and enjoy the recipe with steam rice.
